"Every project represents someone's home, business or investment. That's why we take the time to understand how a property is used before recommending the right solution. From the first conversation through to final certification, our approach is centred on thoughtful planning, honest advice and workmanship we're proud to put our name to."
Harry McCrae
Our Services
From premium electrical installations to renewable energy systems, we deliver carefully designed solutions for homeowners, businesses, developers and commercial clients across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire.
Solar PV & Battery Storage
The average solar install in Dorset pays back within 6-8 years and saves homeowners £800-1,200 annually on energy bills. Add battery storage and that figure increases significantly — storing the energy your panels generate during the day and using it in the evening when grid electricity costs most. We design, install and certify systems for homes and businesses across the South West. Free solar readiness assessment included.
EV Charging
Already bought an EV or thinking about it? The charger and tariff need to work together to get the real savings. We install Hypervolt, Ohme and Zappi chargers and can advise on smart tariffs like Octopus Intelligent Go — cutting your charging cost to as little as 7p/kWh. Most installs completed within the week.
Inspection, Testing & Compliance
Legally required every 5 years for all rented properties in England — with fines of up to £30,000 for non-compliance. We carry out thorough inspections with same-day reports. If remedial work is needed we handle that too, keeping you fully compliant and your tenants safe.

Harry fitted my Tesla charger and I couldn’t be happier with the service. He was professional, punctual, and completed the installation to a very high standard. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure everything was working perfectly before leaving. The whole process was smooth and hassle-free. I would highly recommend Harry to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable EV charger installer.

Harry came recommended to carry out an EICR on a property we are currently in the process of purchasing. He kept us updated before, during and after the inspection, which was very useful. The report was with us the same day. Professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Very happy with his services. Would use again and recommend!

Harry recently installed an EV charger for us and I couldn’t be happier with the service. From the initial enquiry through to completion, everything was handled professionally and efficiently.
The installation was neat, tidy and completed to a very high standard. Harry took the time to explain everything clearly, answered any questions I had and made sure I was comfortable using the charger before he left.
What really stood out was his attention to detail, reliability and communication throughout the job. It’s refreshing to find a tradesman who turns up when he says he will, takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about customer satisfaction.

Meet McCrae & Co
McCrae & Co Electrical & Renewables was founded by Harry McCrae with a simple ambition: to build the kind of company he would want to invite into his own home.

After working across domestic, commercial and renewable energy projects, Harry saw that too many customers were forced to choose between speed, quality and communication. McCrae & Co was created to prove they should never have to compromise.

Today, every project is approached with the same principles—honest advice, meticulous workmanship and genuine pride in every detail. Whether it's a consumer unit upgrade, a commercial installation or a complete renewable energy system, the goal is always the same: deliver work that's built to last and completed to the highest standard.

For Harry, McCrae & Co is about more than electrical installations. It's about building a business that stands for quality, earns trust through its work and creates a future he can be proud of. One project at a time, the aim is to build lasting relationships with clients and a reputation that people recommend with confidence.
